APSC CCE Scheme - Prelims, Mains and Interview
As per requisition of the Govt. of Assam for recruitment in various posts to the Civil Services, advertisement is generally published through print media inviting applications in the prescribed form. The written examination consists of two stages:
- The Preliminary
- The Main Examination
- Personal Interview
APSC CCE Preliminary Examination Scheme
The examination consists of two papers of two hours duration each. This examination is meant to serve as screening test only. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to Main examination are not counted for determining the final selection. The questions are of multiple choice objective types:

Prelims GS1 : Key Syllabus Points
- Current events of national and international importance
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
- Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues etc
- Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc
- General issues on Environment ecology, Bio-Diversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization
- General Science
Note: 30-35% of the questions in General Studies Paper-I will be related to Assam.
Prelims GS2 : Key Syllabus Points
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision making and problem solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc) (Class X level)
- Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc) (Class X level)
Note: 30-35% of the questions in General Studies Paper-I will be related to Assam.
APSC CCE Main Examination and Interview
The Main Examination consists of a written Examination and a viva-voce test as below:
Candidates who are declared qualified in the Main Examination shall be summoned for a viva-voce test. The viva-voce test carries 200 marks with no qualifying marks.
The written examination consists of the following papers of 3 hours duration each. The questions of the Main Examination will be conventional essay type:

Interview
The candidates are interviewed by a Board which takes into account their academic career. The marks scored in the interview are added to the marks scored in the written examination (Main) and the rankings of the candidates are determined on the basis of the total marks obtained.
